A DIFFERENT PAIR OF GLASSES

It was 1987 and the Somers family & Patrick Hoet were hungry. Hungry for ‘a different pair of glasses’.

Together they decided to create original eyewear for their own shops in Antwerp and Bruges.

The first theo models were launched made a bit of a splash! Others were soon asking us whether they, too, could sell theo in their own shops.

Little by little and country by country, theo gradually won over more and more hearts. This encouraged the Somers & Hoet to continue on the theo path.

Now, a good 25 years later, theo are tremendously proud to be able to collaborate worldwide with a select group of individual opticians who have embraced theo and who bring our love for design, originality and quality to their customers.

Each theo frame has a unique story for how each frame was designed, named & created.

Theo Racetracks

You look up. A man winks. A woman smiles. A child waves at you. Someone says wow. Warm, cheerful, surprised, naughty. A wave of reactions. From complete strangers! That is the effect of your theo glasses, never going unnoticed.

Sonar is an ode to the unique message that theo spreads worldwide. That’s what the Sonar radiates. The waves start from the frame. They sway and return. With new impulses. Sonar, glasses as a sixth sense.

Theo Happy Chips

Can you imagine eating the same dish every day? No thanks!

theo’s newest potato series is all about celebrating differences. Different shapes, colours, flavours, characters… variation stimulates our appetite for life!

Simplicity is often found through complexity. Behind the effortless beauty of this design is a highly sophisticated process

Theo Pinball

Life is like a game of pinball. Bumpers, spinners and kickers shoot you from one challenge into the next, The adventure is exciting, yet the game can get intense.

The intriguing features of the pinball machine inspired the newest theo family. A flashy acetate ‘playing field’ for the top half, a ‘wire ramp’-shaped bottom half, ‘ball holders’ in the temple tips.

Let this design be a reminder: when life gets intense, find the wire ramp and take a moment to breathe!

Theo were determined to design glasses that always incorporate a touch of humour, individuality and a certain ‘edge’.

And they have stayed true to this!
